We drew a hard fought match against a tough opposition. Reijo Rautio and Arto Heimonen were the heroes of the day.
JärvSK - LauttSSK 3 2-2
Asomäki Pekka (2123) - Tuovinen Jukka (1983) 1-0
Bederdin Lauri (1978) - Kumar Ashwin (1957) ½-½
Krook Pasi (1950) - Rautio Reijo (1804) 0-1
Uusitalo Joona (1944) - Suihko Ismo (U1652) 1-0
Harju Antero (1748) - Heimonen Arto (1651) 0-1
We made our way to Jarvenpaa in Ismos car on a rainy day. We arrived well on time and soon the games began.
On board 5, Arto played a good game against Antero, won a piece in a tricky middle game and then won the game. Great job!
On board 4, Ismo got into a tricky pawn endgame, with pawns on both sides of the board and one enemy passed pawn down the middle. It looked like it might have even been Ismo's game actually, but the ending is not that trivial to play.
On board 3, reliable Reijo Rautio played a positionally aggressive game, casting queen side and launching pawns at the enemy king until chaos ensued and Rautio won. Reijo is man of the match. Well done!
On board 2, I played against youngster Lauri Bederdin, and.. well, I thought I outplayed him in the opening, but in fact he may have even gained a slight edge. Regardless, it was technically a draw from start to finish.
My game
On board 1, Jukka seemingly had Asomäki on the ropes, having blitzed out the opening in no time while Asomäki had already spent 45 minutes. The position was quite interesting, in that Asomäki had two sets of doubled pawns, but had the bishop pair and was able to use his rooks down the open file to launch an effective attack. Jukka looked in trouble, but managed to salvage a potentially drawing position, but it just wasn't enough.
So, 2½ each. A hard fought draw. I think overall we played excellently.
