We lost a match which we really should have won. Anyway, we'll bounce back next time!
LauttSSK 2 - LoimSK 1-2
Nyrhinen Harri (1993) - Salo Tapio (2219) 0-1
Tuovinen Jukka (1983) - Auvinen Esa (1851) ½-½
Kumar Ashwin (1957) - Hellström Jarkko (1793) 1-0
Luosto Kerkko (1866) - Koivumäki Marko (1804) 0-1
Männistö Kari (1816) - Havumäki Asko (1534) ½-½
This was at the shakkiareena. Pretty packed. My game ended early, so I don't quite know how the other games unfolded, but here's what I saw.
On board 1, Harri had a tough game against Tapio. Played stonewall, but seemed to be getting choked slowly by his opponent. Always going to be hard against a master, but a good fight nevertheless.
On board 2, Jukka had a decent game. Similar to the previous game against Jarvenpää, he doubled his opponents pawns but let him keep the bishop pair. Maybe Jukka likes that structure. Anyway, it ended in a draw.
On board 3, I had a relatively easy game playing Benko gambit with black. I guess it's not an easy opening to play for white. You really need to know your stuff.
My game
On board 4, Kerkko had a queenside castling and pawnstorm type of position, and by the time I left the game looked pretty tactically sharp. Seems like things may have gone awry in that mess unfortunately.
On board 5, Kari played out a draw. I couldn't see the game properly from my position so I can't say much about it.
